Borrowing from the Tabor NSW CollectionOn Campus BorrowingThis applies to staff and students enrolled in a *course of study at the Tabor College NSW. This includes students enrolled at Tabor College NSW but who attend classes run by Tabor College NSW at a location other than Miranda Campus (e.g. Hornsby) or who are enrolled in Distance Study. Students enrolled at other Tabor campuses do not have automatic borrowing rights at Tabor College NSW. Students enrolled as a casual subject enrolment, cross-institutional enrolment or audit enrolment do NOT automatically have library borrowing rights. Students who fall into one of these categories and who wish to borrow from the library must join the library by completing the application form, have a photo taken (or provide a digital photo) and pay the annual library membership fee. A library membership card will be issued to students enrolled in a *course of study and other library members. This card must be produced to borrow items from the library. Lost or stolen cards must be reported to the librarian immediately. The person named on the card is responsible for loans made on the card until the librarian receives advice the card is lost or stolen. A fee applies to replace lost cards.
Off Campus BorrowingOff-campus study is facilitated by borrowing facilities in addition to those available on campus in the Library. Students may borrow books by post from the College. Requests need to be made a week in advance, either by email letter, fax or phone. The loan period is three weeks including delivery both ways. Students enrolled in a *course of study but who do not attend classes at Miranda and who cannot reasonably be expected to pick up items from the library (e.g. Distance Study students) may have books sent to them at College expense. The cost of returning items must be borne by the student. The College website caters for off campus access by students. Students are able to access the Online catalogue, Links and Contact Information. Access to Interlinked CollectionsThe Tabor College NSW library is connected to a number of interlinked services. This includes UNILINC, a library network of educational institutions whose members participate in resource sharing activities based on the Shared System including the Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme and interlibrary lending. Each service has its own processes and protocols for users to engage. Some are free and some are not. Some are included in Tabor College NSW fees. Others are not. It is anticipated that more and more services will be included that are at no extra charge to the students. Application for Library Membership (Non Students)An application form for library membership is available from the college library. A fee applies (refer the current Fees Schedule). With their application, applicants must pay the membership fee and provide a digital photo of themselves (or have one taken by the College). Applicants may be asked to show proof of identity, such as a current drivers license. *The meaning of a "course of study" (above) is an award course either at VET level or a Higher Education award offered by Tabor College NSW. It does not include casual enrolments, cross institutional enrolments or audit enrolments. |
